The King's Dream

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days…
Though he was initially not a believer, Nebuchadnezzar was leader over the captives of Judah. He was questioning his legacy and the fate of his kingdom. God answered his questions in a very powerful way.
He works through the unbeliever as well. He worked through Cyrus, and Darius, allowing the Temple to be rebuilt, and in this passage, He was giving a message to Nebuchadnezzar, so that the Lord would be glorified. The Lord’s will is accomplished through the believer and unbeliever alike.
Daniel declares that the Lord has blessed the king.
Daniel 2:37 You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength and glory.
Daniel 2:46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, prostrate before Daniel and commanded that they should present an offering and incense to him. 47. Truly your God is the God of gods and Lord of Kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.
Again, through this passage, we see a couple of themes. The beautiful character that God has created in Daniel. He submits to the king, and declares that the authority has been given to him for a time, but God is the ultimate authority.
Daniel does not take lightly the vision given him, nor does he take credit for it. He is thankful that the Lord has blessed him (Daniel) with the vision which spares his life, glorifies God, and makes the statement that God alone is the Alpha and Omega. He will be around after the current kingdom falls, He will destroy all kingdoms of men, and will establish a kingdom that will never be destroyed.
Daniel 2:30 But as for me, this secret has not been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes who make known the interpretations to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.
